Aside from pings around 100-150ms everything is fine. I was able to figure out how to avoid installing any of their software. My speeds are what they are suppose to be and everything works great. My only complaint is that they don't let the tech support guys post here and the difficulty with which it takes to have fast past removed. Also, compared to other ISPs and the cable in my time it's pretty pricey at $49.99/month for 512k/128k. If I didn't host my own server I'd be online with cable.
Update: Only one time did I ever loose synch. And that was about 2am Thursday which is in the FCC mandated maintenance window and it was up by the time I woke up Thursday morning so no biggy. Overall my connection has been stable, but relatively expensive for the speeds.
Update 2/27/04: Service has been stable for as long as I have had it. Only called tech support a few times. Hold times where about 10 minutes. I only really call for questions so I'm not sure about ability. One guy hung up on me when I kept asking him about the outages near my area (they were not affecting me.) Forums have people complaining of bad tech support and this thread »Sprintlink in KC is doing it again! shows a serious problem that I'm really glad is nowhere near me. Overall I personally am happy with my service and would recommend it to people near me.
Update 12-15-05: Previous review info is for zip code 32792. I had moved to a Bellsouth area and had DSL with them. I have now moved to Tallahassee and am back in a Sprint area. The new DHCP setup is great so you don't have to worry about PPPoE. My current biggest complaint is their default interleave policy which puts everyone's pings up to the 150ms area. They have brought the price down to be in line with their competition. My DSL went down from about 1am - 12:pm the day after a hurricane hit about 300 miles west of here. A tech came out, but by then everything was back up. He said they were having some different issues after the hurricane from the CO and it was probably related to that. No other issues or problems.
Update 10/25/06: I'm still a happy camper so far. Zyxel 645M broke and was replaced by the 660. 660 firmware was buggy, but an update was released shortly after getting it. Port forwarding on the 660 doesn't work. I found a way to work around it, but I'm the only one the work around seems to work for. Other users of the 660 didn't have any success using my work around. I'm currently on the 3.0M/512k service.
Update: 05/17/07: Starting around November of last year Embarq had a major system-wide melt down. Packet loss, latency, and speed degredation was happening nation wide during peak hours. About April the majority of the problems were resolved. Embarq's handling was less than elegant going to the extreme of their tech support blaming customer's equipment or saying there was nothing they could do.
In the end they finally got the problem resolved, so that's a big relief.
I recently purchased a house and had my telephone and & DSL switched over. Even though this house is in the boonies, it qualifies for the full 5.0M service, but I am still purchasing the 3.0M service as it fits my needs and wallet.
If you have a question for me send me a PM.
Update 11/20/07: Things have still been pretty solid since they fixed their bottleneck issues. Nothing else of interest has happened since my last post. I did have to power-cycle my modem yesterday for the first time in ages.

| I Just Got A Zyxel 660 From Embarq...
And the reason why I did was because I was using the 645 series (which I found very unstable, but dealt with it nonetheless), and I was trying to understand port forwarding for a program I use. Well, I have my 660 Zyxel, but I still don't know how to port forward... and from the looks of it (from reading the posts here), there's no way *to* port forward... which really is not a good thing for me. I did find a website, though, that said there was a way to port forward with the 645 and the 660, but I'm afraid to test it. I don't think I want to go through losing my internet access for another 2 days. Oh, the horror. But if any of you that use the Zyxel 660 and know how to port forward with it, please let me know. I have provided the link to the website that I found that discussed the port forwarding for the 645 and the 660 series.
