10/30/2008 UPDATE:
TWC "upgraded" my service a few months back so now I am getting around 5Mbps/450k. Yes, the only difference is about 120k on the upload but I am still happy with the overall service. It still hasnt gone down, and I (thankfully) havent needed to call their "tech support".
Original Review from 2005:
I have had Road Runner cable modem service for about 5 years now and truly have not seen a real distruption of service yet. There was a period of time that I was getting really bad download and upload speeds, but that turned out to be due to a bad modem that they promptly replaced. The tech support is non-existent and terrible, so if you are the type of person that needs your hand held look elsewhere. The price is a bit much especially considering that just outside of NYC there is a broadband war going on between CableVision and Verizon. Overall $45 per month is a decent price to pay for 5m/384k, which in reality is a very repectable 4.5m/350k.
