[Connectivity] Intermittent Connectivity in Radcliff, KY

Hello everyone, this is my first post after reading these boards for a few months. I have a connectivity issue that started back in november or december (been a while). Was hoping I could get some answers here. I've spoken to phone support and have also had techs come out to my house on at least 4 occasions. They have also ran multiple monitors for all different kinds of durations ranging from a day to 5 days. Insight says that they can't get information from the monitor because my modem doesn't stay off-line long enough. I am on the 10meg connection.

The issue is that randomly at any time of day i will lose connection for just a few seconds but it is enough to disconnect me from any games I'm playing or voice communication, even web-sites/streaming. since december I have kept a constant ping running to google just kind of give me an idea when I'm about to get kicked off. 95% of the time it takes 3 timeouts to google before my connection comes back. while this happens the modem lights do not change. they're all lit up like they didn't miss a beat. I've even connected a laptop to my neighbors wireless and theirs disconnects at the same time mine does(hopefully this rules out anything in my house but the techs don't seem to want to believe me or just cant grasp that the issue is not particular to just my home.)

Here is what I've done as far as troubleshooting.
-replaced modem
-disconnected router
-different computers
-replaced cable line coming from outside the house into the splitter that leads to the tv/cable modem (that was fun)
-disconnected splitter and run the cable from outside straight to the modem.
-tech came out and replaced the line from the pole to the house as well as a "tap plate?" which would seem to be the device that takes the main cable line on the pole and splits it to different houses in the area.

I know this is kind of long winded but I'm wanting to be as thorough and include as much information as possible. I'm desperately trying to get this issue resolved and am hoping you all could give me some ideas.

it's been a few months since my initial post(2009-04-07). i got in contact with an insight tech on the forums and spoke with him for a day or two then stopped hearing from him.

I am having the exact same issue as in the first post. about 2 weeks after the post i got a call from insight saying that they found out the cause of the issue and they would notify me when it was resolved. it's been almost 3 months and the problem persists. I'm going to give them another call but wanted to update this post in hopes of getting some help again from the techs on this board.

I had a similar issue when I upgraded to Vista, the problem in my case was with my NIC card. I just bought a new $20 NIC card and plugged that in and everything works fine now.

I am the owner of the account charbar has been posting about.

I am a certified network engineer. Both of my sons are very knowledgeable in the field and have worked at telcos or other such locations.

We have talked with Insight many times with several tiers of engineers.

We even got daily calls when someone high up from Insight read the posting and took an interest.

We even agreed on where the issue was if not the reason for it at that location.

The calls slowed down and eventually quit with no solution.

Yesterday I disconnected the cable boxes, I will turn them in today.

The modem is still plugged in for Internet access until I transfer all of my email contacts off of my Insight email address

Then that will change soon as well.

I have liked Insight and still do but I can not and will not stay with a company that has to have a problem pointed out to them down to the physical location of the issue and then tells us to hang on until they can get around to fixing the issue and the months roll on......and on...... and on.

Have you tried emailing Mr Willner? He always fixes things.

Experiencing the exact same thing in Boone County. Everything is fine, then all of a sudden, everything stops. Try to go to the home page, or anywhere else, and (Google Chrome) reports a broken link. Can't get email (can't connect to the server), nothing works. A few seconds later, it all comes back.

Insight really needs to get their act together. The service gets worse, the price gets higher. I guess that is the result of no competition in Northern Kentucky. If they ever get competition, I have a feeling I will be one of the first to jump ship. I've about had it with the shoddy service here.
