| How much could this coin be worth?
I have no personal experience with identifying coins, selling them, etc., but I have been told by a professional that the "bullet error" on this coin did occur "in mint", whatever that may mean.
This is a 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar coin. What should I do with it? How much could it be worth? Could anyone recommend some "coin collector" sites to assist me in selling this coin? -- ISP: CableOne 3 mbit/300 kbit |

| reply to Pashune That "bullet" mark was not a mistake by the mint, it was placed later.
If not a counterfeit, it would be valued either at the silver content price or just plain fifty cents. The Kennedy Half Dollar is still minted and sold to the public in bags and rolls.

| reply to TearAbite It stands to reason if you conduct an online search for bullet stuck Kennedy half-dollar or something along those lines and find nothing other then this thread it was created by someone out for a laugh or to scam someone who believes the mint did this.
Do you know the professional as well as examined his credentials? Anyone can call themselves an expert. Just look at some of the "computer experts here" flooating around the web and this site. I would not trust them to turn a computer on let alone tell me how to fix something. -- "Facts not FUD!" |

4 edits | reply to Pashune If its circulated, other than being a last true silver coin verly little over face value..... MAYBE $5\\
The flaw (depending how many there are) maybe a bit more, but again if circulated (it looks to be) not a lot.
Stamp people will tell you the same thing flaw are only valuable ONLY if a very few got out/saved (like the famous upside down Biplane air mail stamp, and then mostly in full sheet), and again unpostmarked or un/minimally circulated.
Which is the so silly thing about the 1 run quarters and commerative stamps... SO MANY collect them because they are told to and suckers.... unless truely mint condition worth virtually NOTHING, and even then so little because now so many do. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)

I have all clad quarters from both mints since '65 in folders except for a few "P" state quarters minted '06-'08 and the "P" District of Columbia quarter minted early this year. Likewise for dimes. Also have all pennies and nickels from both mints '59 to '08 and older ones going back as far as the '30s. It's a relaxing hobby, albeit not particularly exciting--it isn't about extra value for me.
I found good advice a few years back about coins I hoped might've been mint errors (but weren't) at Coin Talk. |

3 edits | I was refering more to the individual state quatrter BS, whick again unless collected mint are not worth than a quarter. (Unlesss you are just happy you have circulated them all) PO doing the same thing with stamps.... vs 1 stamp, unless full sheet pretty worthless, even then questionable. Because so many are collectiing bOTH even in the mint sense... because they are told to, not should have of old.. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)

| reply to Pashune Typically, mistakes that occur on a series of coins will be worth more. Mistakes like a missing letter or something out of place. But a physical defect that may be simply damage from the manufacturing process and isn't found on other coins isn't going to increase the value. -- RIP my babys Buttons 1/15/94-2/9/07 & Beamer 7/24/08, Buttons, Buttons video, Beamer
