|  [Rant] Forced Install?
I must admit that I think it is absurd, Midcontinent Communication forces Cable Modem installation.
Is there really a need? all they have to do on their end is to register the Mac address of the modem correct? must they send a tech out to my house and charge a $35 fee? all I get from them is that it is protocol but the service techs. call it old school and don't understand the reasoning behind it.
Honestly though... is this standard protocol with all Cable Internet Providers? I have my own modem

| Well, considering the truck roll cost the company a lot more than $35, I'm guessing they are trying to make sure you get set up and working properly.
I can see how this would be annoying if you know how to install the modem and have a good clean signal.
