[XP] Wireless router question

I have a WRT54G V5 that handles our network, I also have a Trendnet TEW-432BRP »www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···33156038 laying around the house. Can I use the extra router as a wireless ap/bridge for my xbox 360? Since routers don't need drivers could this be possible? Would I still need to run a cable from my linksys to the new router and bridge the connection? I'm trying to eliminate the long wire from my linksys to my 360 without buying a wireless adapter first.

While a very few wireless routers CAN act as a Wireless Bridge, the TEW-432BRP does not appear to one of them.

I read the User Guide, and used the Emulator, and neither leads me to any hope for the TEW-432BRP as a Bridge.

(You could use the TEW-432BRP as your router, add DD-WRT to the WRT54G V5 and then use it as a Bridge, but I do not recommend it)

in the documentation of the trendnet it says that you can setup the router to work with another, but doesn't mention bridge mode.

Why do you not recommend ddwrt on my linksys? Would the linksys then see my trendnet without a long wire run?

Do both units share the same SSID,Wireless Encryption Protocol, and the same wireless channel?

Is the Linksys router's LAN IP address in the same subnet as the Trendnet?

ok before I move the router to my 360 I need to do the following?

set the linksys lan ip to my trendnet's ip? they both share the same ssid, and wep key. I got the internet to work with the linksys on my wife's machine, but when I get it to the 360 it says that it can't resolve the dns. It finds the network, but won't connect to xbox live.

The TrendNet's LAN IP,let's say,it's 192.168.1.1,then your Linksys needs to be 192.168.1.2.

Linksys needs to be 192.168.10.XXX

Put the Linksys router's LAN IP address outside the TrendNet's DHCP server range.

Example:

TrendNet's LAN IP: 192.168.10.1 DHCP server range is 192.168.10.100 to 192.168.10.150

Linksys would be 192.168.10.2

so within the linksys router it needs to be 192.168.10.2

do I always have to re-connect it to my wireless lan when I move it? right now it's on my wife's pc, but when I move it to my 360 it fails to do anything.

It should connect to your wireless network, after it's moved. Is the XBOX 360 networking configured for DHCP or Static IP?

You are the man, it works now!!! SO much nicer than having a wire ran through our house!

Tested cod4 and I get all green bars! Perfect! Took longer than I thought it would putting ddwrt on my wrt54G, but man it's worth it!

Thanks so much!

One slight problem. My wife's wireless connection keeps dropping, a lot. My wireless bridge (linksys) will constantly keep a connection while on xbox live. Any suggestions? It also says that it's "validating identity" when connecting. Do I need to manually set an IP for her pc? right now its 192.168.10.102. Surely it's not because I have MAC filtering on is it? My bridge never loses it's connection.

Did you disable the SSID broadcast on the WRT54G?

I think so, it's not showing up as an available network.

Just the trendnet.
